Right! I make NO apology for this appeal....

With two main East - West routes through our beautiful county of Wiltshire - M4 and A303 our air ambulance is used very frequently - up to 4 times per day in fact.   If you have the need to use either of these routes to the West country, especially on a regular visit to the 2nd home, please do consider donating to our wonderful https://www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk and keep this flying for us all!   We locals are happy to pay to the charity to keep it flying - none of us know when we might need it, even those from out of the county.

The charity No 1144097 receives NO government funding....see here:

"WE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU THIS CHRISTMAS

While many people will be enjoying some much-needed time off over the Christmas and New Year period, we will be operational and ready to respond to emergencies.

Our lifesaving service runs up to 19 hours a day, all year round, thanks to the generous donations we receive from the general public.

We are only able to provide our essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) thanks to the people, businesses and grant-making trusts who donate and fundraise for us. As we always say, we are funded by you, flying for you – so thank you for your support.

We receive no regular direct funding from the Government or National Lottery grants and need to raise £4 million each year to keep flying and saving lives."

This is the story from yesterday that made me think to put out this appeal - yet another road traffic collision (RTC) on the A303 near or around Winterbourne Stoke, this time east bound where 5 vehicles were involved at around 5pm last evening - Wednesday 28th December, with one vehicle ending up on it's roof!!  I won't go into the why's and wherefore's of how that could happen at this section of the A303 which is single carriageway, but speed must be a factor.   With one woman taken by Wiltshire Air Ambulance to a local hospital and five others treated for minor injury....putting yet more pressure on our emergency services and A&E., sadly, this is a regular occurrence for the A303 going through Winterbourne Stoke while they await the government deciding whether a fly over is the right thing to fix this section of the A303.

Our county of Wiltshire is the route to the sun and with our obsession of getting away 4 or more times a year, even in winter, please drive with care and support our Air Ambulance - you may just need it sometime!
