Same old same old....they tell you what to say ....

and their followers, go ahead and obey....I took a look at some of the 1210 responses to PINs   https://infrastructure.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/projects/south-west/a303-stonehenge/?ipcsection=docs&stage=6&filter1=Re-determination&filter2=Re-determination+Consultation+2+responses+%2824+February+2022%29

and the majority are worded in exactly the same way, with some amendments  https://stonehengealliance.org.uk/act-now/write-to-your-mp/ (SHA) told people what to say in their objection....

"but please make minor changes so that PINs won't notice we guided you 😅"

Dear [first and last names] MP,

As you may know, the Transport Secretary’s decision to build a road and tunnel across Stonehenge World Heritage Site has been quashed in the High Court.  As a result, the project has been delayed and Grant Shapps is in the process of redetermining the scheme.

Not only would this road scheme irreparably damage the landscape and its prehistoric archaeology, but UNESCO could reconsider the site’s World Heritage status if it goes ahead.

The case for the scheme rests on the shakiest of economic foundations. There is no realistic prospect of end-to-end dualling of the A303 in the foreseeable future, so all it would achieve would be to shift traffic jams a few miles down the road.

As host to world leaders in addressing the climate crisis at COP26 we expect to see all government decisions contributing to rapid reductions in CO2 emissions.  But the Stonehenge scheme is one of the worst offenders in this regard and would add nearly 2.5 million tonnes of emissions in its building and operation.

Surely this is the time to abandon this hugely expensive scheme, protect our most iconic World Heritage, and pursue low carbon alternatives instead?

Please ask the Transport Secretary to ditch this scheme.

Yours etc

Of course I didn't sit and read all 1210 of these....mainly objections, and in any case, the letters are heavily redacted but one they missed came in from Canada, so it goes to show....that the majority of these people who are apparently so knowledgeable about the World Heritage Site (WHS) haven't a clue where it is, have never been here and are completely unaware of how the over capacity A303 affects local people.   If they took the trouble to do their own research, instead of being led by the nose, and look at what is on offer for the WHS they just might have another opinion, that being their own!!!

What's not to like about.....
1) removing the present A303 from the WHS and grassing over that strip
2) allowing the space to be used by walkers, riders, cyclists
3) allowing fawn and fauna to move across the space when presently it's split in two
4) the experience of peace and quiet both on the WHS and Stonehenge
5) experiencing the darkened night sky with no line of traffic headlights or tail lights.

and for local people, when the scheme is complete, we shall have a safe village again!   Remember those rat run figures?

Well said, Boss!
As you highlighted; do the research first, instead of being led by people who, despite their protestations to the contrary, don't give a toss for the incredible inconvenience not upgrading the A303 @ Stonehenge presents, and cannot comprehend the positive benefits the Scheme would bring. One only has to look at Hindhead and Newbury, and Winchester bypass solutions to see the longer term benefits.
