Rat Running through Shrewton as read. The following link is the true and registered traffic figures for London Road during the whole of the recent May Bank Holiday both westbound and eastbound. These figures are taken from the SID.....Speed Indicator Device or "Smiley Face" to you and me .....

and yes, I know figures can be boring for some but this is what we in Shrewton have to tolerate on a daily basis especially through out the summer, school holidays and bank holidays, and this will continue ad infinitum, unless that is, the A303 is fixed past Stonehenge!!!
The list is in half hour segments and if you are a geek like me, you will see speeds registered in the column RHS, upwards of 48 mph, some '50's and some '60's. However, there are NO '70 mph's but ......one vehicle was registered travelling at 80 mph !!!! Yes OK, I know it was 4 am in the morning but bearing in mind London Road is a mere 6 metres wide in places and who's to say there wouldn't be a Shrewton resident walking out on that road for some reason or another, even at that time perhaps to help a neighbour in trouble......it's what we do around here!! "On Friday 28 May the portable speed indicator device was deployed outside the houses in the London Road. From 09:00 on Friday 28 May to 12:00 on Tuesday 1 June 18,523 vehicles transited the London Road which is an average of 4,490 vehicles per day.
The peak volumes recorded were 231 vehicles westbound between 15:00hrs and 15:30hrs on Friday 28 May and 221 vehicles eastbound between 15:30hrs and 16:00hrs on 31 May – had the traffic being flowing steadily, over 24 hours these figures would equate to 11,088 and 10,608 vehicles per day.The maximum speed recorded was 80mph for a vehicle travelling east between 03:30am and 04:00am on 29 May."
