Well....I for one - am euphoric!!!!

😂 😂 https://uknip.co.uk/breaking/news-253686/highways-england-welcomes-green-light-for-major-a303-upgrade-past-stonehenge/

Earlier today Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps approved our development consent order application for the A303 Stonehenge (Amesbury to Berwick Down) scheme.

We will be taking time to review his decision letter and the development consent order but we’re really pleased that we’ve got the go ahead to make the much-needed improvements to the A303 past Stonehenge.

It’s an important step in finally sorting out a road that does not work for drivers, for people who live, work and holiday in Wiltshire and the South West, and for the setting of the World Heritage Site.

I would like to thank you for helping us reach this milestone. We couldn’t have achieved this without the support of our stakeholders, heritage bodies and local communities.

For those of you who live or travel through the area, you may have seen us over the last few months carrying out surveys and investigations ahead of the decision to help us prepare for construction.

We have also just appointed archaeological specialists  - who will carry out excavations and work to record and preserve any archaeological finds - and a contractor responsible for other work that needs to be done before construction starts.

They have already started their planning for starting on-site in late spring of next year.

We’ll continue to keep you fully updated as the project progresses and look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead to leave a lasting legacy that will benefit local residents and visitors alike.
