Hi everyone,
I wanted to update you about our work on
and around Countess roundabout, near Amesbury.
These works are part of an ongoing
programme to understand ground conditions along the route of the proposed A303
Stonehenge scheme.
We’re pleased to confirm that the
contractor working on our behalf is expected to finish on time.
Lane closures will be removed on Friday 9
October and won’t be reinstated.
If you’d like to know more on what’s been
going on behind the cones, we’ve pulled together a useful explainer
on our website.
Separate to this Highways England will
begin maintenance work east of Countess roundabout at Avon Bridge on Monday 19
October, which is expected to last until March 2021.
The bridge which carries A303 traffic
over the River Avon needs repair. This work involves concrete repairs,
replacement of the bridge bearings and joints, and replacement surfacing and
lining. Most of this work will require lane closures.
