So, we at STAG attended yet another of the Hearings at Salisury City Hall yesterday Thursday 13th June this one for Traffic and Transportation:

Firstly, may I say, the panel and Chair person need a medal each for sitting for the past month from 10am till 8pm with breaks and listening to all the clap trap that comes from Stonehenge Alliance and their sycophants.
One Dr Simon Temple BSc MSc D.Phil at his request, was handed the mic and was extremely dismissive stated that "congestion on the A303 only occurred on some sunny days, usually at weekends and that rat running was not an issue.....So therefore the scheme is NOT NECESSARY!!!" Here we have likened Dr Temple to the good Dr Bunsen Honeydew and we thought his sidekick - Beaker should be one Ms Kate Fielden!!
Needless to say, this got my dander up and when Dr Bunsen had finished his specious diatribe, I requested the mic and gave him and everyone else in the hall the true facts......guns blazing!!
The panel of Inspectors already had copy of the SID figures for the 15 days over Easter of 67,000 vehicles accessing our village on just one of the entry points and were NOT surprised at my outburst but I do think it did surprise our friend Dr Bunsen and his cronies at Stonehenge Alliance!
The panel also had copy of the reported accident figures for our immediate area for the years 2012 - 2018 and we await the following year to 2019 when it's available from Wiltshire Council.....we would point out that many go unreported......and rat running is not an issue apparently.
A campaign to dual the A303 west of Stonehenge. Since the closure of the A344 past Stonehenge, traffic has increased on the A303, causing rat running through Shrewton and other local villages. This has endangered the lives of local people as drivers follow sat navs trying to avoid queues on the A303. The A303 needs to be dualled past Stonehenge and a by-pass for Winterbourne Stoke is much needed.

A303 Amesbury – Berwick Down (Stonehenge) scheme news
Highways
England has started a series of ground investigation surveys along
the proposed route of the
A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down (Stonehenge)
scheme, which will continue over the summer months.
There
will be a number of boreholes and trial pits at various locations
mainly in the western part of the scheme. At each location,
archaeological surveys will take place in advance to avoid risk of
damage.
This
work follows on from extensive surveys already carried out which
helped to draw up the preliminary design of the scheme, which is
currently being examined in the planning process. (known as a
Development Consent Order)
The tender process to appoint
a main works contractor will begin at the end of the year to ensure
construction can start on schedule in 2021 provided the scheme gets
the go ahead. The in-depth information gathered by the new ground
investigation surveys will help construction companies have a
complete picture when they bid to design and build the scheme.
Most
of the locations will be near the current A303 with none of the work
carried out close to residential properties.
Work
will be paused ahead of the Summer Solstice on Thursday 20 June and
resume on Monday 24 June.
